Are you new to the horticultural sector, but would you like a varied job in the open air? Many of our colleagues started with us through work-based learning programmes. Many of them followed the BBL course in Cultivation and Technology, specialising in Tree Nursery Management. This course is delivered by Yuverta at the practical training site at Van de Berk in Sint-Oedenrode. During the work-based learning programme, you’ll work at our tree nursery whilst we teach you the ins and outs of the trade. At the same time, you’ll learn all the necessary information about soil, cultivation and technology at school.
If you’re interested in the course, please feel free to come and spend a day with us at our tree nursery so you can get a feel for what we do. Our colleagues Stan and Hein will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the course.
Working at a tree nursery means working in green surroundings, in the open air and alongside colleagues to achieve tangible results. The work is varied and seasonal: no two days are the same. This creates a varied and dynamic working environment where you can see the results of your collective efforts.
At Overbeek Bomen, you’ll be working in a family-run business with short lines of communication and a down-to-earth approach. You’ll get to know your colleagues, help one another where needed and work together towards a common goal. This sense of commitment creates a pleasant working atmosphere that offers scope for initiative and personal development.
What’s more, you’ll be working outdoors, amongst the trees. This makes the work not only varied, but also healthy and active. You’ll be physically active, on the move and following the rhythm of the seasons. This gives you energy and brings a sense of fulfilment at the end of the day.
At the same time, we combine this with a modern and innovative way of working. Machinery, digitalisation and smart processes support our work in the field and ensure that we can work efficiently and with an eye to the future. We never take our work for granted. We do not simply adopt practices that have been carried out in the same way for years. Instead, we challenge one another to remain critical:
“Why am I doing this, and does it still contribute to our ultimate goal?”
This way of working ensures that we continue to improve, encourage initiative and work together to build a future-proof tree nursery.
For us, it’s all about craftsmanship, collaboration and innovation. Behind every tree and every project is a dedicated team that ensures quality down to the last detail. From selecting and felling trees to loading lorries and utilising smart technology, our people make all the difference.
Our people are the foundation of our company.
Working at Overbeek Bomen means working outdoors, surrounded by greenery, using technology and as part of a dedicated team. As a family business, we keep the lines of communication short and work together to deliver quality that we are proud of.
Do you have experience, or are you keen to learn? With us, you’ll be given the opportunity to grow and find your place within the team.
At Overbeek Bomen, you’ll be given the opportunity to grow. Mark van Dongen’s story shows what’s possible when you take the initiative and keep developing.
What began as a part-time job grew into a key role within the company – culminating in a position on the steering committee. A journey in which expertise, trust and opportunities for advancement come together.

At Overbeek Bomen, the work has long since ceased to be solely about manual labour. Marijn’s story shows just how varied and technical the work at the nursery is.
He went from being a Saturday worker to becoming the team’s machinery expert. He was responsible for the machinery and for supervising his colleagues during planting, but always kept his feet firmly on the ground.
